2026 Rules

 

ALL CARS FRESH OF PRE RUN RECEIVE (4) TOTAL FIX IT PLATES.  THESE FIX IT PLATES MAY BE IN SQUARE OR PARALELLOGRAM FORM.  IF IN PARALLELOGRAM FROM THE PLATE MUST BE 4” TOP TO BOTTOM AND SIDE TO SIDE EXACTLY, AND THE TWO FURTHERMOST POINTS MUST  BE EXACTLY 7” APART.   ANYTHING GREATER THAN THESE PARAMETERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED.  You may also utilize a maximum of 2 locations of nine wire, 3 loops per location.  

No car at any time will be permitted more than 4 fix it plates, 2 random locations of wire and the front bumper and rear bumper wire that is permitted.

***** FIX IT PLATES ARE THE ONLY PLATES THAT ARE ALLOWED TO BE IN PARALLELOGRAM FORM.  ALL OTHER PLATES MUST BE SQUARE OR RECTANGLE BASED ON THE RULE WRITTEN PER PLATE. EXAMPLE 4”X 4” BUMPER PLATE MUST BE SQUARE.  

THE RULES BELOW ARE NOT GUIDELINES, THEY ARE STRICTLY WRITTEN TO TELL YOU WHAT YOU CAN DO.  IF THE RULES DO NOT SPECIFICALLY OUTLINE THAT YOU CAN DO SOMETHING, CALL.  

ALL RUST REPAIR MUST BE PRE-APPROVED WHETHER IT IS THE BODY, UNIBODY OR SUBFRAME.  WE WILL ALLOW FOR REPAIRS TO RETURN THE CAR TO FACTORY ORIENTATION, NO FURTHER.  

IF YOU ARE FOUND TO HAVE PLATED THE UNIBODY FRAME OF SUBFRAME, THIS WILL RESULT IN AN AUTOMATIC LOAD.  

GENERAL RULES

1. FWD SEDAN AND STATION WAGONS ONLY WITH A MAXIMUM WHEEL BASE OF 113”

2. ALL PLASTIC, POT METAL, TIN, GLASS, CARPET, INTERIOR HEADLIGHTS ETC MUST BE ENTIRELY STRIPPED AND REMOVED FROM CAR.  PLEASE ALSO REMOVE DOOR HANDLES AND SPEAKERS.  

3. CARS WILL RECEIVE TWO ATTEMPTS TO PASS INSPECTION ONLY.

4. BATTERY MUST BE REMOVED FROM UNDER HOOD AND PLACED IN THE COCKPIT OF THE CAR.  A BATTERY BOX IS PERMITTED BUT MUST BE TIGHTLY SECURED TO EITHER THE CAGE OR FLOORBOARD.   ABSOLUTELY NO PLASTIC OR WOODEN BATTERY BOXES. 

5. FACTORY GAS TANK MUST BE REMOVED UNLESS BEING UTILIZED AS PRIMARY FUEL CELL.  IN THIS CASE IT MUST BE IN FRONT OF REAR AXLE.  

6. SPARE TIRES MUST BE REMOVED. 

SAFETY

1. FOR SAFETY TWO LOCATIONS OF NINE WIRE IN FRONT WINDOW AREA ARE REQUIRED. AS AN ALTERNATIVE YOU MAY WELD OR BOLT 2 3” STRAPS ROOF TO COWEL.  THESE STRAPS OR WIRE MUST STAY A MINIMUM OF 4” AWAY FROM STRUT TOWERS.  

2. REAR BUMPER MAY BE WIRED ON WITH TWO LOCATIONS OF NINE WIRE THROUGH TAIL LIGHT COVER WITHIN 6 INCHES OF BUMPER.  

3. FRONT BUMPER MAY HAVE 2 LOCATIONS OF NINE WIRE CORE SUPPORT TO BUMPER BUT CANNOT GO THROUGH HOOD.  

DRIVETRAIN

1. WIRING HARNESSES ARE PERMITTED

3. ELECTRIC FANS FOR RADIATOR ARE PERMITTED

4. ALUMINUM RADIATORS ARE PERMITTED

5. CARB SWAPS ARE PERMITTED, we realize that having a wiring harness is an advantage so we are allowing the swaps.  ABSOLUTELY NO carb protectors

6. NO HEADER PROTECTORS

7. THE TOP BACK MOTOR MOUNT MUST BE AN OEM DIRECT BOLT MOUNT WITH NO MODIFICATIONS.

8. THE FRONT MOUNT UNDER THE FACTORY OEM RUBBER BOOT COVERING, YOU MAY WELD A 3” WASHER TO THE TOP OF MOUNT.  

9. AFTERMARKET HEADERS ARE PERMITTING BUT MUST RUN VERTICALLY THROUGH HOOD AND CANNOT CONTACT THE SUBFRAME.

10. AFTERMARKET SHIFTERS ARE PERMITTED. 

11. NO SHIFTER PROTECTORS

12. You may run an aftermarket gas pedal in order to accommodate the carb swap.  Must not strengthen the car in any fashion including pressure. 

13. MUST RUN THE FACTORY BRAKE PEDAL, NO EXCEPTIONS

14. SPRING RISERS ARE PERMITTED

15. MUST RUN FACTORY STEERING COLUMN. A QUICK DISCONNECT STEERING WHEEL IS PERMITTED BUT CANNOT ALTER STEERING SHAFT SLIDE OR KUCKLES.  

Suspension and Steering

1. No alterations of struts will be permitted.  Struts must be direct bolt and same make. 

2. You may run spring risers 

3. No reinforcements of tie rods or steering rack

4. Must run factory steering rack

5. No aftermarket steering columns

BODY

1. CREASING IS PERMITTED FROM C POST BACK ON REAR QUARTER PANELS AND IS PERMITTED ON THE FRONT FENDERS AS WELL.  

2. ALL DOORS MAY BE EITHER, WIRED IN 8 LOCATIONS (2 LOOPS OF BRAIDED WIRE), OR CHAINED IN 8 LOCATIONS WITH 3/8” CHAIN, OR WELDED WITH 2 4”X4” X1/4” PLATES PER VERTICAL DOOR SEAM, AND ONE ABOVE EACH DOOR. 

3. DRIVERS DOOR MAY BE WELDED SOLID SEAM OR YOU MAY RUN DOOR SKIN THAT MAY EXTEND NO GREATER THAN 3” IN FRONT OF FRONT DOOR SEAM OR BEHIND REAR OF FRONT DOOR SEAM.

4. ***IF A PASSENGER IS ON BOARD EITHER IN YOUTH DIVISION OR A TWO MAN FORMAT, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR WILL BE CONSIDERED A DRIVERS DOOR.

5. THE DECK LID ON A SEDAN OR WAGON MAY BE TUCKED IN 90 DEGREES BUT MUST REMAIN ON ITS FACTORY HINGES IN FACTORY LOCATION WITHOUT MANIPULATION. 

6. TRUNK AND SPEAKER DECK ARE CONSIDERED ONE AND CANNOT BE DISHED OR MANIPULATED. 

7. DECK LIDS OR TAILGATES MAY EITHER BE WIRED IN 8 LOCATIONS( 2 LOOPS OF BRAIDED WIRE, 8 LOCATIONS OF 3/8” CHAIN OR WELDED WITH 6 TOTAL 4”X4” ¼” MAX SQUARE PLATES.  IF WIRING YOU MAY WELD STORE BOUGHT 1” HOLED WASHERS FOR WIRE TO GO THROUGH.  WASHES MAY NOT BE WELDED OVER A SEAM OR TO UNIBODY FRAME OR SUBFRAME.  WIRING MAY GO TO SPARE TIRE AREA

8. SPARE TIRE AREA OR FLOOR OF TRUNK MY BE PUSHED UPWARD.  

9. HOOD- MAY BE EITHER WIRED IN 8 SPOTS, CHAINED IN 8 LOCATIONS WITH 3/8” CHAIN OR BOLTED IN FOUR LOCATIONS.  IF BOLTING YOU MAY WELD 2”X2” ANGLE A MAX OF 6” LONG ON FENDER AND ON HOOD IMMEDIATE TO FENDER WITH ONE ⅜” MAX BOLT PER LOCATION.  

10. ABSOLUTELY NO WEDGING OF BODY.  REAR QUARTER PANELS MUST REMAIN UPRIGHT

11. A HOOD IS NOT REQUIRED BUT IF YOU DO NOT RUN ONE ALL TIE DOWNS ARE FORFITTED 

12. ABSOLUTELY NO FENDER BOLTS

13. IN CORE SUPPORT AREA, EITHER ON THE FRONT OR BACK SIDE OF THE CORE SUPPORT, YOU MAY HAVE 1/8” RAD GUARD OR EXPANDED METAL.  THIS RAD GUARD OR EXPANDED METAL MUST ONLY BE IN CORE SUPPORT OPENING AREA AND MUST BE A FULL INCH APART FROM THE FRAME RAILS.  EXPANDED METAL OR RAD GUARD CAN ONLY BE ATTACHED IN 6 LOCATIONS WITH A MAX OF 3/8” BOLTS.  THESE BOLTS CAN BE NO LONGER THAN 2”.

FRAME

1. PLEASE READ CAREFULLY.  AT TOTAL CHAOS WE ALLOW HARDNOSING.  HARDNOSING AT TOTAL CHAOS IS DEFINED AS WELDING THE BUMPER DIRECTLY TO FRONT OF FRAME WHILE REMOVING ANY BRACKETS OR SHOCKS.  HARDNOSING DOES NOT MEAN SHORTENING.

HOWEVER IN BUMPER SWAP COMPACTS WE ALLOW SHORTENING BUT ARE SPECIFIC TO WHERE THIS MAY BE SHORTENED TO.  YOU CANNOT REMOVE THE ENTIRE CRUSH BOX.  YOU ARE PERMITTED TO SHORTEN ONLY TO THE FRONT EDGE OF THE FACTORY CORE SUPPORT. NO EXCEPTIONS OR ACCOMODATIONS WILL BE MADE.  YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO MOVE UP CUT PLATES OR MOVE TO A HEAVIER BUILD CLASS.  FRONT OF THE CORE SUPPORT NO FURTHER.   THE CORE SUPPORT MUST REMAIN IN THE CAR.  

2. IF BUILDING A HONDA PLEASE CALL PRIOR TO MOUNTING THE BUMPER.  WE HAVE SPECIFIC PARAMETERS ON HOW TO MOUNT THE BUMPER WITH EXTENDING THE FRAME. 

3. ** WE WILL NOT BE MEASURING THE DISTANCE BETWEEN FRONT RAILS OR BETWEEN REAR RAILS.  IF DEEMED EXCESSIVE YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RUN, CALL FIRST.  

4. YOU MAY PRE-BEND THE REAR FRAME TO ASSIST IN ROLLING.  

5. REAR BUMPER MUST REMAIN IN FACTORY LOCATION ON THE FACTORY BOLTS.

6. NO SEAM WELDING OF CRUSH BOX OR ANYTHING ELSE ON FRAME, SUBFRAME. 

BUMPERS

1. WE DETER YOU FROM RUNNING A TUBING BUMPER BECAUSE WE HAVE SEEN TIME AND TIME AGAIN THAT THEY RIP DOORS OPEN AND CAUSE SAFETY CONCERNS. HOWEVER, WE UNDERSTAND THAT IT MAY BE A CHEAPER OPTION FOR SOME.  THEREFORE, WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED THE FOLLOWING PARAMETERS FOR TUBING BUMPERS.   

• MAY BE EITHER 4”X4” ¼” MAX, OR 2”X6” X ¼” MAX.  ONE OR THE OTHER

• ABSOLUTELY NO POINTS 

• ABSOLUTELY NO GUSSETS

• THE WIDTH OF THESE BUMPERS CANNOT EXCEED OUTSIDE OF WHEEL TO OUTSIDE OF WHEEL.

• ON THESE TUBING BUMPERS THE ENDS MUST BE TAPERED AND CAPPED.  AT MINIMUM A 45 DEGREE ANGLE CALL FOR CLARIFICATION. 

2. ANY OEM BUMPER (this is for front and back), NO LOADING INCLUDING BETWEEN SKINS.  MAY BE SEAM WELDED.  HEADLIGHT HOLES MAY BE COVERED WITH 1/8” MILD STEEL.  

3. SMW LIGHTS, SMW MIGHTY MINIS, DEC/ ADEPT GAUGE BUMPERS ARE PERMITTED.  B AND B ADEPT STYLE WITH POINT ARE APPROVED BUT MUST HAVE A 3” MAX POINT TAPERING OVER 32” AS DO ALL FAB STYLE BUMPERS.  BUMPER CANNOT EXCEED 3/16” OR 10 GAUGE STYLE AND CANNOT HAVE GUSSETS. This applies to front and rear bumpers

FRONT BUMPER MOUNTING

1. PERPENDICULAR TO FRAME YOU MAY ADD A 6”X”6 MAX ¼” PLATE FOR FLUSH MOUNTING SURFACE.  NOT ON THE SIDE TOP OR BOTTOM.

2. ABSOLUTELY NO FACTORY SHOCKS OR BRACKETS. 

3. ******On any 1 of the four outsides of the frame (1) per rail, A 4”X4” ¼” PLATE MAY BE WELDED TO BACK OF BUMPER AND TO UNIBODY FRAME.  THIS PLATE CANNOT CONTACT SUBFRAME IN ANY FASHION.  

4. REMINDER THAT THIS PLATE MUST BE SQUARE AND MUST TOUCH BUMPER.  

Rear Bumper Mounting

1. You may use a 6”x 6” x ¼” plate Welding in the factory bumper mounting location.  The top of this plate may not be above where the factory bumper bolts on.  The bumper may be welded anywhere to this 6×6 plate but ONLY TO THIS PLATE..NO OTHER ATTACHMENTS.  If you wish to move your bumper up you may only do so by welding it higher on this plate.

2. Bumper wire- You are permitted 2 locations of wire front bumper to core support only. You are permitted 2 locations of wire rear bumper to body only within 12” of bumper.  

WHEELS AND TIRES. 

1. TIRES MAY BE DOUBLED, MAY BE FOAM FILLED OR AIR FILLED.

2. 2” MAX LIP PROTECTORS ARE PERMITTED.

3. A SIMPLE VALVE STEM PROTECTOR MAY BE WELDED TO WHEEL.

4. V TRED, SKID STEERS ARE PERMITTED ON FRONT.  NO FRONT SOLID WHEELS OR TIRES

5. REAR TIRES MAY BE SOLID, FOAM FILLED, OR RIM ONLY

6. NO RUBBER TIRE GUARDS

CAGE

REMINDER THAT TOTAL CHAOS PERMITS AN ADDITIONAL DRIVERS SAFETY DOOR BAR THAT RUNS NO FURTHER THAT THE FURTHERMOST FORWARD POINT OF THE A POST THE BACK OF THE B POST. THIS BAR MUST BE 5” OFF THE FLOOR.  

1. A FOUR POINT CAGE IS PERMITTED, MEANING 2 SIDE BARS, A DASH BAR AND A REAR SEAT BAR. 

2. CORNERS OF CAGE HORIZONTALLY CAN BE GUSSETTED 

3. NO DOWN LEGS, CGE CANNOT COME IN CONTACT WITH THE FIREWALL IN ANY FASHION.

4. SIDE BARS MAY BE OUTSIDE OF THE A POST AND B POST BUT MUST STOP ABRUPT AT THE FRONT END OF THE A POST.   NO EXCEPTIONS.  THE BACK OF THE SIDE BACK CANNOT EXTEND FURTHER THAN THE REAR KICK PANEL

5. DUE TO THE FACT WE REQUIRE FACTORY STEERING COLUMN, THE FACTORY DASH BAR MAY REMAIN. 

6. HALO BAR IS PERMITTED MUST RUN STRAIGHT UP ACROSS AND DOWN AND MUST BE A MAXIMUM OF 4”X4” ¼” MATERIAL.  HALO MUST BE NO FURTHER BACK THAN THE REAR KICK PANEL AND MUST START AT THE TOP OF THE SIDE BAR.   HALO MUST BE ATTACHED TO ROOF IN 2 LOCATIONS WITH 4” X 4” MAX ANGLE A MAXIMUM OF 4” LONG WITH ONE ⅜” BOLT PER ATTACHMENT.  

7. MAX FOUR POINT CAGE MATERIAL IS 6”

8. CENTER SHIFTER BAR DASH BAR TO REAR SEAT BAR IS PERMITTED.

9. AL CAGE COMPONENTS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE GAS TANK PROTECTOR MUST REMAIN 5” OFF OF FLOOR AND FIREWALL.  

10. FOR MOUNTING PURPOSES OF SIDE BARS, 1 PER SIDE, AN 8X 12” ¼” PLATE MAY BE WELDED TO B PILLAR TO MOUNT SEAT BAR.  THIS PLATE MUST COMPLY WITH 5” OFF FLOOR RULE. 

11. THIS CAGE MUST REMAIN AS INTERNAL COCKPIT CAGE WITH EXCEPTION OF SIDE BARS AS STATED IN RULE 4. 

12. GAS TANK PROTECTORS ARE PERMITTED TO BE TIGHT TO PACKING TRACK.  GTP MUST NOT EXCEED 32” WIDE AND NO TALLER THAN SPEAKER DECK FACTORY LOCATION.  CANNOT EXCEED BACKWARD OVER PACKING TRAY.  

2 GUSSETS MAX, YOU CHOOSE EITHER ONE PER SIDE REAR SEAT BAR TO GTP OR 1 PER SIDE GTP TO HALO.  ONE OR THE OTHER.  ALL GUSSETS AND CAGE MUST REMAIN 6” FROM REAR STRUT TOWERS.  

13. NO REAR WINDOW BARS
